Welcome to our first newsletter of 2010. This week we are focusing on India – an amazing destination offering so many contrasts.
From its distinctive architectures of a bygone era, mist clad mountains to the north, tropical beaches to the south, desert in the centre, with its multiple religions, diverse ethnic groups and customs that have survived the test of time, India has gifts superior to any other country. The subcontinent has something for anyone.
A fascinating way to venture to its renowned resorts is to take the week-long ride aboard the famous luxury train – Palace On Wheels. The journey starts at Delhi’s Cantonment Railway Station and ends in Agra, having visited nine wonderful attractions en-route.
At the end of the journey in Agra you be be able to experience the dazzling Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. Sometimes referred to as a labour of love, the structure was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is a magnificent portrait of creativity and artistic genius. Construction took 17 years with twenty-eight specimens of rare, semi precious and precious stones for inlay work & white marble as the chief material.
India has become one of the top 5 tourist hot-spots in the world & the largest consumer market after China.
