Get A Good Seat On An Airplane

It is a fact that traveling by plane is the most comfortable means of transportation but there are possibilities that you get stuck in a bad seat. If this happens, your journey is likely to become very uncomfortable. This can happen if you get a seat beside the lavatory. You cannot enjoy a good nap as when you try to recline, there are higher chances that you bump into people using the lavatory. However, there are chances that you can get a good seat if you’re careful enough to plan your airplane journey some time before you need to leave. For that matter, you can actually pick the seat that you like and avoid the worst seat.

Here are some of the possible ways of getting a good seat:

1. Choose the right class:

If you choose the first class ticket, it is likely that you will get the best seats. This class is the costliest and the leg space is generous enough. Good meals can be expected and entertainment facilities are often quite impressive.
Business class is more or less similar to first class. However, the leg space may not be enough sometimes (especially with long trips).
Economy class is the lowest class and cheapest. The seats are not very comfortable and service quality decreases. The food is average and leg space is not very comfortable.
Premium economy is the other option. These seats are generally with the economy class but the comfort level is a little bit elevated with better leg space and the services are a bit improved.

2. While you are trying to fly in an economy class, it is important that you list up all your preferences. The preferences can be something as mentioned below:

  • Do you prefer In-seat power outlets?
  • Do you prefer to have internet access?
  • Do you want meals?
  • Do you want audio?
  • What items do you want for infants?
  • Do you want to have a seat in front, back or middle of the plane?
  • Do you want an aisle seat or a window seat?

Based on these preferences, you can select your class and book a ticket that can give you a comfortable seat.

3. You can prefer to have an exit row seat. In general, these seats have extra pitch (which is the distance between the rows). They also have extra legroom. But one factor that is important is that you must be willing to help others in case there is an emergency. Another facility that you get is that the seats in the row in front of the exit row don’t recline and thereby gives a little more leg space.

4. Look for an empty middle seat. You may look for an aisle seat which is towards the rear part of the plane but where there is someone already booking the window seat. This is because if you are trying to get a seat with two empty seats beside you, it possibilities are more that a travelling couple or duo make take up those seats. But if there is an empty middle seat, these seats fill up at the last and thereby gives you the chance to have an extra space just in case someone never turns up in that seat.
