As for some trivia – Saint Patrick didn’t actually come from Ireland, but was taken prisoner from Britain by Irish raiders & was brought to Ireland to work as a shepherd. He escaped & later returned to Ireland as a missionary & is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. The first ever St. Patrick’s Day parade was held in Boston in 1761. Today parades are organised throughout the United States, cities & towns all over Ireland, Northern Ireland, Britain, Australia & even commemorated by US soldiers in Baghdad

Currently South African passport holders do not require a visa to visit Ireland if staying less than 60-days, however if you are visiting Northern Ireland or are transferring via the UK, a UK visa will be required.
